The executive of the ECMA will lead participants through some common components of a music program including welcome activities, action songs and rhymes, knee bounces for little ones, singing games and dances, gross motor and creative movement, story/song books, lullabies and more! Saturday December 1, 2007. Debbie attended the Gala ceremony for the 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards held this year at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Gatineau Quebec. Debbie was a nominee in the category Best Children’s Album for her CD ‘Simply Beautiful’. www.canadianfolkmusicawards.ca.
Thursday November 29, 2007. 10:00 – 10:40 AM at the North York Central Library (Toronto Public Library). Debbie, along with backup player Bob Birnie, provided a special musical Toddler Time for over 100 2 year olds and their grownups.
Tuesday November 13, 2007. 10:30 to 11:00 AM: Sing-along at Diaper-eez, a lovely neighbourhood children’s store in Toronto Ontario’s west end. Free, but pre-registration advised.
November 10, 2008. “Simply Beautiful” CD celebration at the PJs and Pillows Concert Series, Toronto, Ontario. Children may come in their pajamas and bring their teddies. 6:30 – 7:30 PM. November 7, 2007. Ella Minnow Children’s Bookstore (The Beach) Toronto. 2 concerts: one in the morning starting at 10:30AM and another in the afternoon beginning at 1:30PM. We hopped like bunnies and rowed our boats, all on a dancing day!
October 17, 2007. Simply Beautiful nominated for a 2007 Canadian Folk Music Award: Best Children’s Album. Results to be announced at the Museum of Civilization, Hull Quebec December 1, 2007.
October 19, 20, 2007. Friday and Saturday – Simply Beautiful CD release in Barrie ON at the Barrie Public Library. There were 2 storytime concerts on Friday morning, and 1 on Saturday morning, with a total of about 200 participants. What fun!
October 9, 10, 11, 12, 2007. Tuesday to Friday “Head and Shoulders, Tea and Spiders!” – at Brick St. Public School, Jalna Public Library and Landon Public Library – in London, ON. Debbie participated in the Extended Art Beat programme of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF) – “connecting artists, students and community”. October 12, 13, 14, 2007. Debbie was a delegate at the annual OCFF (Ontario Council of Folk Festivals) Conference and participated on the “Art of Artistry” panel, alongside Catherine McInnis, Katherine Wheatley and Mike Stevens. www.ocff.ca

From 1990 – 2005, Debbie led music classes for young children and their grownups in the Toronto area: first as a teacher at the Young Children’s Creative Music and Movement Classes (YCCMMC) and later at the Kingsway Conservatory of Music (KCM), Etobicoke. Now retired from regular teaching, Debbie loves to connect with babies, tots, toddlers and preschoolers – and their parents and teachers!
